Principal's Message

Dear Bobcats Families,

Thank you for being so supportive as we began the school year. The first two days were busy as students learned new routines and procedures. To keep arrivals smooth and safe, parents may walk students to the MPR only from 7:40–7:50 AM. After 7:50, the gates will close, and students should enter the campus by the library. This is to the right of the main entrance. Also, we will use this area for dismissal for Mrs. Smith's TK class. Parents are not allowed on campus after 7:50 AM unless they have signed in through the office and are cleared to volunteer.

We introduced our schoolwide ROAR expectations for grades 1–6. On Friday, we had an assembly for 4th–6th graders to review all expectations and answer questions. We will continue to review our schoolwide expectations over the next month to ensure a safe and supportive school environment. Please reach out to your child's teacher with any questions or concerns related to your child's education.

Attendance is a priority—please make sure your child arrives on time and ready to learn each day. Being prompt and prepared helps them take full advantage of instruction and stay connected with class routines and classroom learning. We appreciate your ongoing support and partnership so that your child is successful here at school.

All the best,
Mrs. Walker, Principal

Office Updates

We love volunteers!

Volunteer packets must be completed every year. The link is below, everything is digital. We highly suggest doing this at the begging of the year so you don't have to worry about it for the rest of the year.

If you were fingerprinted by Paso Robles Joint Unified a previous time, you will not need to redo that.

Attendance

Starting this year, PRJUSD will be using a program called EDIA for attendance messaging. When your student is absent, you will get a text message from EDIA asking you why your student is out. (If you didn't call in before) You can simply text back and the program will correct the attendance in Aeries. With all new programs and procedures there are going to be some growing pains. We will try our best to make this new process as easy and smooth as we can make it.

Just a reminder, you have 72 hours to clear an absence or your student will be marked as truant.

Student Pick Up / Drop Off

Remember, please do not get out of the car in the drive-through line. If you want to get out of the car, pull into a parking spot or park in a designated area on the street.

Have your child ready to get out before getting in the parking lot.

Bobcat Athletics

We will continue to do athletics at Glen Speck! We are always looking for coaches and helpers to make the season run smoothly. If you are interested in coach, please email our Athletic Director, Pam Bonham at pdbonham@pasoschools.org. Coaching positions are a stipend position.

To sign up for sport, you will need to scan the QR code and sign up online.

Check your student's closet!!
Please return any school sports jerseys you may have from last year to the office! We need to wash and reuse them this year for sports.

Go BOBCATS!

Community School Update

We made it through our second day of school!!! Thank you for your patience and support during these first days!

We are looking forward to partnering with you in your child's education. Please reach out to us at any point during the year if you need support with a challenging situation—we all have those days and moments.
In particular, if your child has a difficult start to their morning, please reach out to their teacher via Parent Square. Giving the teacher a heads-up helps them prepare before your child arrives in the classroom and provides time to arrange extra support if needed. We are here to partner with you to help ALL of our students thrive, stay safe, and succeed while on our campus.

Community School Initiative Grant
We are entering our third year of implementing our Community School Initiative Grant. Our school was awarded $1,187,500.00, which is distributed over a 5-year period.

What is a Community School?
A Community School serves TK–12th grade students by focusing on a "whole child" approach. It emphasizes collaboration among educators, parents, students, and community partners to provide a supportive environment where all students can thrive.
  • Vision: Through meaningful family and community partnerships, inclusive leadership, and a safe, supportive climate, we help students grow, belong, and succeed.
  • Goal 1: Authentic Family and Community Engagement (Ann Mihelic) – Strengthen student outcomes through family and community partnerships to foster a joyful school environment.
  • Goal 2: Develop a Positive and Restorative School Climate (Katie Cox) – Create a safe and supportive school climate where every student feels they belong and can grow with help from health, wellness, academic programs, and extracurricular activities.
  • Goal 3: Increase Collaborative Leadership (TBA) – Advance a culture of shared leadership through transparent, collaborative decision-making that reflects diverse perspectives.

Get Involved!
We invite you to be a part of our Steering Committee Team. We need your voice to help transform our school climate so it best represents our entire community.
  • First Meeting: September 17, 2026 @ 3:30 PM
We also warmly invite you to participate in our other parent and school organizations:
  • School Site Council (SSC)
  • English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)
  • Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)
  • Classroom / School Volunteer Opportunities at family events

Your voice, ideas, and partnership help strengthen our Bobcat community and make Glen Speck an even better place for all.
Thank you for entrusting us with your children. We are grateful to partner with you and look forward to a year filled with learning, kindness, connection, and shared success!
