We are pleased to announce that the Lions Club Mobile Vision Trailer will be at our school on August 24th to perform student vision screenings. Vision screenings are a wonderful way to help ensure our students can see clearly and succeed in the classroom! This will be for grades TK, K, 2nd & 5th.

Parent Opt-Outs: Parents have the right to opt their child out of screening. To do so, they must submit a written opt-out note to your front office staff prior to the screening date.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the screening, please contact the Nurse Ali, in the front office.

As we begin the new school year, we want to share an important update regarding classroom celebrations, including birthdays.

To ensure a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all students, food items—including cupcakes, cakes, and other snacks—will no longer be permitted in the classroom for celebrations.

Many of our students have food allergies, specific dietary restrictions, or religious practices regarding food.

We still love recognizing our students on their special days! We encourage you to celebrate your child using non-food alternatives. Some great ideas include:

Contact your student's teacher in advance to coordinate.

Please note that if food items are brought to school for classroom distribution, they cannot be brought into the building and will need to be passed out off school grounds after school hours.

Cross country starts this week. Students can't participate with out a sports packet completed.

To sign up for sport, you will need to scan the QR code and sign up online.

Please return any school sports jerseys you may have from last year to the office! We need to wash and reuse them this year for sports. 

Throughout the school day, students in every grade level use District technology for learning—from individually assigned Chromebooks and iPads to shared classroom devices and interactive displays. PRJUSD’s optional Student Device Protection Plan covers accidental damage to District devices a student is using, whether that device is assigned to the student or shared in the classroom.

That means the plan may be valuable even if your child does not have a take-home device. For example, if a student accidentally drops a classroom Chromebook, the Device Protection Plan can help cover the cost of that damage.

Without the protection plan, families may be responsible for repair or replacement costs when District technology is damaged while being used by their student. A replacement Chromebook alone costs $380.

The Device Protection Plan covers accidental damage, such as drops, spills, and cracked screens, as well as theft with a police report, vandalism, fire or flood damage, electrical surges, and mechanical failure outside the manufacturer's warranty.

Coverage applies to eligible District devices used by the student, including both individually assigned and shared devices.

The plan does not cover intentional damage, cosmetic scratches, lost or misplaced devices, or accessories such as chargers and cases.

The optional Device Protection Plan costs $25 per student for the entire school year and is available to students in grades TK–12.

Enroll and pay online before September 18, 2026, using the appropriate link below. Families may also pay by cash or check at their student's school office during the open enrollment period.

Open enrollment ends September 18. Enrollment after that date may require an inspection of any individually assigned device before coverage can begin.

This is a free event hosted by Parents Helping Parents, SLO County SELPA, and the CAC. It is a wonderful opportunity to learn practical strategies, attend workshops led by experts, meet with local community resource exhibitors, and network with other parents.
